Homers by Amos Otis and Hal McRae supported the pitching of Paul Splittorff as the Royals defeated the Indians, 3-1. Vada Pinson was on base with a single in the fourth inning when Otis homered off Jim Perry. McRae added a solo shot in the ninth. The Indians avoided a shutout with a homer by Joe Lis in their half of the final frame. The crowd of 17,723 at the game brought the Cleveland attendance to 1,009,056, putting the Indians over the million mark for the first time since 1959. [The Sporting News]
