Ken Henderson's homer with one out in the ninth snapped a tie and gave the White Sox a 3-2 nod over the Tigers, who lost for the seventh time in eight games. The Sox took a 2-0 lead against loser Lerrin LaGrow, who went the distance, in the third on a walk to Bucky Dent and singles by Bill Sharp, Jorge Orta and Carlos May. The Tigers kayoed Bart Johnson and tied the score in the eighth on singles by pinch-hitter Gates Brown and Ed Brinkman, an infield out and the third hit of the game by Gary Sutherland, a two-run single.
