Tommy Harper collected four of the Red Sox' 15 hits and Carl Yastrzemski, Rico Petrocelli and Rick Miller drove in three runs apiece in a 12-3 trouncing of the Rangers. Miller homered with a man on base in the first inning and added an RBI with a single in the eighth.

Yastrzemski singled a run across in the third and accounted for two others with a double in the seventh. Petrocelli doubled for an RBI in the first and homered with a man on base in the seventh. Bill Lee, pitching the fifth straight complete game to the credit of the Red Sox Staff, doled out four hits, including a homer by Toby Harrah. [The Sporting News]
