After jumping on Claude Osteen for three runs in the first inning, the Expos waited until the last two stanzas before scoring five more times to defeat the Astros, 8-3. In the first, a single by Ron Hunt, a sacrifice, single by Willie Davis, double by Bob Bailey and single by Hal Breeden gave the Expos their early start. The Astros narrowed their deficit with two runs in the fifth, but the Expos pulled away in the eighth.

Mike Jorgensen was hit by a pitch, took second on a balk and scored on a single by Jim Cox. When Milt May took the throw from the outfield and pegged wildly to second, Cox also raced home. The Expos locked up the verdict in the ninth. Jorgensen singled with the bases loaded, driving in two runs, and Cox added the last run with another single. [The Sporting News]
