Pedro Garcia singled across two tallies in the second inning, Johnny Briggs homered with a man on base in the third and Bobby Mitchell accounted for two runs with a single in the fifth. George Scott also had a run-scoring single in the fifth and added an RBI with another single in the seventh. Bill Champion, pitching for the Brewers, was kayoed in the eighth when the Orioles scored all their runs, but Eduardo Rodriguez relieved and retired the last six straight batters.
