. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Held to one hit in the first six innings, the Athletics rallied against Jim Perry in the seventh to defeat the Indians, 3-1. Bill North opened the frame with a single and, after an infield out by Sal Bando, Perry walked Reggie Jackson intentionally. Joe Rudi and Gene Tenace followed with singles, each driving in a run. Deron Johnson then walked and Ray Fosse delivered the A's third run with a single off reliever Milt Wilcox. Charlie Spikes, who had hit safely in 19 straight games for the Indians, was stopped on his streak. [The Sporting News]
