. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The Braves knocked out Fergie Jenkins in the fifth inning and handed the Cubs their ninth straight defeat, 6-2. The Braves were leading, 2-1, when Jenkins walked Darrell Evans and Hank Aaron with one out in the fifth. Evans scored on a single by Dusty Baker. After Davey Johnson walked, Mike Lum singled to drive in Aaron and Baker.

In a rare display of temperament, Jenkins hurled four bats onto the field from the dugout after being removed and had to be escorted into the clubhouse. The Braves' only hit in the last 4 2/3 innings was a homer by Evans off Dave LaRoche in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
