With two out in the ninth inning, Bill Sharp hit a homer off Joe Coleman to give the White Sox a 5-4 victory over the Tigers. Terry Forster came out of the bullpen and made his first start of the season for the White Sox, but gave way to Cy Acosta after Willie Horton opened the eighth with a single. Pinch-runner Jim Northrup took third on a single by Bill Freehan and crossed the plate on a grounder by Gates Brown to tie the score at 4-4. [The Sporting News]
