Continuing his hot hitting, Tommy Harper smashed a homer and then broke a tie with an infield single in the eighth inning to enable the Red Sox to defeat the Twins, 3-2. Rico Petrocelli also homered for the Red Sox, while Jim Holt batted in the Twins' runs with a homer and single.

In the eighth, Rick Miller beat out a bunt, moved to second on a single by Doug Griffin, advanced to third on an infield out by Mario Guerrero and scored on Harper's grounder deep into the hole between third and short. [The Sporting News]
