An outstanding performance by Rennie Stennett, who collected seven hits in 10 trips, including the winning homer in the 10th inning of the first game and another homer in the second game, featured the Pirates' 5-4 and 7-0 sweep of a twi-night doubleheader with the Padres. The Pirates also had a homer by Willie Stargell in the opener before Stennett ended the game with his smash in the 10th.

In addition to his round-tripper in the nightcap, Stennett drove in two runs with a single. Dal Maxvill also hit a two-run single. [The Sporting News]
