A three-run rally in the ninth inning brought the Astros a 9-7 victory over the Expos, who also lost the services of Tim Foli when the shortstop suffered a broken jaw in a collision with Bob Watson of the Astros in the fourth inning.

Cesar Cedeno hit two homers and Doug Rader one for the Astros, while Bob Bailey had a round-tripper for the Expos. In the ninth, Roger Metzger, Cedeno and Watson hit singles to tie the score at 7-7.
