Joe Torre completed the cycle feat for the first time in his major league career and Ted Simmons drove in five runs as the Cardinals went on a batting rampage with 22 hits to scuttle the Pirates, 15-4. Torre doubled in the first inning, homered in the third, tripled in the fourth and singled in the ninth. Simmons hit a homer, two doubles and a sacrifice fly.
