. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Chris Chambliss batted in two runs with a bases-loaded single in the sixth inning, accounting for his first RBIs since May 25, to enable the Indians to defeat the Yankees, 4-2. The Indians, who stopped the Yankees' eight-game winning streak, started their scoring with two runs in the first inning on singles by Buddy Bell, Oscar Gamble, John Ellis and Charlie Spikes.

Ellis doubled with one out in the sixth and Spikes and John Lowenstein walked to load the bases. Dave Duncan then grounded into a forceout at the plate before Chambliss came through with his decisive single. Thurman Munson homered for the Yankees. [The Sporting News]
