The Mets, after collecting only three hits and losing the first game of a doubleheader, 2-1, in 10 innings, swung their bats to the tune of 16 hits in the second game and trounced the Expos, 13-3. Ron Fairly homered for the Expos in the second inning of the lidlifter, but the Mets tied the score in the ninth on a walk to Jim Fregosi, a wild pitch and single by Ken Boswell. In the 10th, John Boccabella singled for the Expos and Boots Day walked. After Pepe Frias forced Boccabella at third, Tim Foli singled to drive in the deciding run.

Ed Kranepool batted in four runs with a single, double and triple in the Mets' spree in the nightcap and Jim McAndrew, John Milner and Jim Beauchamp each drove in two runs. [The Sporting News]
