The Red Sox smashed three homers, giving them a total of seven in two days, but they were defeated again by the Tigers, 6-3. Carlton Fisk homered for the Red Sox in the second inning and then joined with Rico Petrocelli in hitting back-to-back blows in the seventh. Norm Cash and Al Kaline connected for the Tigers, Kaline's clout coming with a man on base. Gates Brown hit a double and single as the Tigers' designated hitter and scored two runs.
