Bill Parsons and Jerry Bell combined on a one-hitter as the Brewers defeated the Orioles, 2-0, in their snow-delayed home opener before a crowd of 13,883. Parsons, who had suffered from shoulder trouble in spring training, gave up a single by Paul Blair in the sixth inning for the Orioles lone safety.

After walking Merv Rettenmund with one out in the eighth, Parsons gave way to Bell, who passed Bobby Grich and Earl Williams to load the bases before retiring the side. The Brewers were held to three hits by Mike Cuellar, but they included a homer by Pedro Garcia in the third inning and another by Ollie Brown in the fifth. [The Sporting News]
