. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Milt Pappas became the 67th pitcher to reach a career total of 200 victories, but the first to do so without at least one 20-victory season, when the Cubs' veteran righthander defeated the Expos, 9-2. This was Pappas' 15th victory of the year. His high mark was 17 with the Cubs in 1971. The Cubs' support of Pappas included a two-run single by Glenn Beckert and solo homers by Billy Willams and Ron Santo. [The Sporting News]
