. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Rain that washed out a two-run rally by the White Sox in the ninth inning enabled the Orioles to gain an 8-7 victory when the score reverted to eight full frames. Jim Palmer batted in three runs with a pair of singles as the Orioles stepped off to a 6-0 lead, but the White Sox struck back with four runs in the fifth, three scoring on a homer by Walt Williams.

After the Orioles picked up a run in the sixth on a triple by Mark Belanger and single by Grant Jackson, who had relieved Palmer, the White Sox tied the score in the seventh. The Orioles went back in front in the eighth on a pass to Belanger, a sacrifice and single by Paul Blair. In the ninth, Mike Andrews hit a pinch-homer for the White Sox, Bill Melton doubled and scored on a single by Carlos May, but both runs were erased when rain intervened. [The Sporting News]
