Season 1, episode 1

With Leslie Uggams, Ed McMahon. Comedy-music program replaces Carol Burnett for five weeks. In skits, Steinberg tries to measure up to the "ideal man"; McMahon is an old FBI agent putting up with an applicant (Steinberg) for a job. Miss Uggams sings "Opus 72".

July 26, 1972:
Season 1, episode 2

With John Astin, Patty Duke, James Taylor, Carly Simon. Highlights: a "group therapy" session; a skit about isometric exercises; Steinberg recalls classroom exams.

August 2, 1972:
Season 1, episode 3

With James Caan, Bernadette Peters. Comedy highlights: Steinberg plays a wacky psychiatrist; Caan has "communications" problems; Steinberg gets advice on picking up a girl. Miss Peters sings "Mean to Me" and "I Can Cook Too".

August 9, 1972:
Season 1, episode 4

With Tom Smothers, Valerie Harper. In comedy skits, Steinberg is a psychiatrist teaching his son (Smothers) the family business; Steinberg and Smothers vie for Valerie's affection -- and sympathy.

August 16, 1972:
Season 1, episode 5

With Jack Burns, Avery Schreiber, Carol Wayne, Della Reese. Comedy highlights: Steinberg and guests compare techniques in picking up a girl; psychiatry in prison; a spoof of life in pre-Communist Russia. Della sings "Cabaret", "Never Can Say Goodbye". Steinberg sings "Things My Grandfather Taught Me". (Last show of the series.)
